A little bit about us.
We are Bob & Jackie Sutcliffe.
Bob and I have lived in Stilton for thirty-two years (which is near Peterborough) and have been married for thirty three years with two grown up children who are now independent and doing there own thing. I am a hairdresser and have worked locally for about 30 years. Bob was a Sales Manager at a Mercedes-Benz Dealership and sold used trucks and vans in and around London.
We were looking for a change of direction and we decided to leave UK and emigrate to South Africa. Hence the trip. Our intention is to buy or build a B&B when we eventually land is SA and semi retire. I might add that the master plan is subject to change as things develop, who knows whats in store.
This all came about after watching some of the Long Way down. Tongue in cheek Bob remarked to me that he could do that trip on a bike and l could meet him in Cape Town. The short sharp answer was unprintable but the edited version was NO. Not thinking any more of it Bob was quite surprised a week later when I said that it would be ok by 4x4 then we could both go. Having mulled this over for a few days we both talked about it and the trip was on. We were going, it was just how! That was it, we are going Overland. You might ask why!! Goodness only knows! We have been asked that question so many times, the only answer we have is because we can, because we want to.
To visit so many countries and to see the different ways of lives, cultures and so on. But most importantly we do not want to get to the stage in our lives where we wished we had done this, that, and the other, but then it’s too late. So in for a penny, in for a long drive and the journey of a lifetime. We are so looking forward to this journey and have set this website up so anybody who wishes to follow our journey can do so and we have a record for ourselves.
May I just say that we have found other peoples websites very helpful and informative. Hopefully if you are contemplating something similar you might find something within of use to you. It is nice to know that other people have already completed this trip in one format or another, some of them having travelled all over the world in a 4 x 4.
SO WE ARE NOT THE ONLY CRAZY COUPLE.
Our journey will take us to some twenty-three countries, travelling through Europe, Turkey and down the east side of Africa and latterly across to the West coast and finally down to Cape Town.
We hope you enjoy reading about our travels, please feel free to leave a message or a booking into a mental institution for both of us if you wish. (but make it 5 star).

Moving on, we have now returned and are attempting to re-adjust back to a "normal life" whatever that is. Well for 12 months or so at least. As we said out plans are subject to change and they did. We came home. But on the plus side we intend to take off in about 12 months hopefully towards Austraila overland.
